There are a few possible reasons why your dog may enjoy howling. One reason could be that they are trying to communicate with you or other animals. Dogs howl to signal their location to other members of their pack, and this instinctual behaviour can carry over into our own homes. If your dog is howling near a door or window, it may be trying to tell you that someone is coming or going.

Another possibility is that your dog is simply bored and wants some attention. Howling can be a way for dogs to get our attention, and if we respond positively (by giving them treats or petting them), they’ll learn that this behaviour gets them what they want.

Whatever the reason for your dog’s howling, it’s important to remember that it’s normal behaviour for them. If you’re concerned about the volume or frequency of their howling, you can talk to your vet or a qualified animal behaviourist for advice on how to best manage it.
