A lot of people think that peanut butter is bad for dogs, but that’s not actually the case. Peanut butter is a great source of protein and healthy fats, and it can be a great way to reward your dog for good behaviour. Just make sure you use the right kind of peanut butter.

Many commercial brands of peanut butter contain added sugar or other unhealthy ingredients, so it’s important to use a brand that’s specifically made for dogs. There are several brands on the market, or you can make your own peanut butter treats by mixing some chopped peanuts with some low-fat yogurt or cottage cheese.

Be sure to avoid giving your dog too many treats, though, as they can lead to weight gain if given in excessive amounts. A few peanut butter treats a day is plenty to reward your dog for good behaviour.

Peanut Butter Dog Treats Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1 cup old-fashioned oats

1 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup skim milk

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, combine peanut butter, oats, flour and baking powder. Add skim milk and stir until well blended.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto a prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Store in an airtight container. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
